ORANGE — Six juveniles and four adults were arrested Saturday in connection with a shooting at Irvine Regional Park, but no weapons were found and nobody was hurt.
County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene about 3 p.m. after someone reported that gunshots were fired. Authorities closed the park for about 10 minutes and arrested 10 men and youths, all of whom were from Long Beach and Los Angeles, Sheriff’s Lt. William Francis said.
Those arrested and being held for questioning--ranging in age from 15 to 20--had been part of two groups firing shots at one another near the park’s entrance, authorities said. Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Sewell said those arrested may have been part of a gang.
Three cars in the area were searched for weapons but none were found, Francis said.
