Clinton’s Haircut

The media have labored mightily to make “image” more important than substance for politicians in general and President Clinton in particular. Now you fault him for trying to live up to your superficial expectations. We don’t need to read (on Page 1, no less!) who cuts the President’s hair.
I read The Times because it has more substantive news than my hometown paper. When important stories are relegated to the back pages in favor of a media-manufactured flap over a haircut, that diminishes The Times’ own image.
