Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Officer’s Lawyers Rest Their Case

Lawyers for a Miami policeman whose fatal shooting of a black motorcyclist ignited three nights of rioting rested their case without presenting any evidence. Prosecutors called more than 20 witnesses to testify in the manslaughter trial of William Lozano. When his turn came, Lozano lawyer Roy Black told Circuit Judge W. Thomas Spencer, “Based on the lack of credible evidence presented in this case, we rest.” Spencer denied a defense motion for acquittal.
