Nelson Headed for Adams State

Distance runner Robert Nelson of Glendale College will attend Adams State (Colo.) next fall, while javelin thrower Ralph Lycklama of Canyons will continue his college career at and Azusa Pacific.
Nelson, a 1989 graduate of Pasadena Muir High, placed second in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in the state junior college championships at Shasta College in Redding on Saturday. He finished third in the 1992 state meet and holds the Glendale record of 8 minutes 53.0 seconds in the steeplechase.
Lycklama, a 1991 graduate of L.A. Baptist High who took up the javelin this season, placed third in the state meet with a personal best of 203 feet 5 inches. The throw was a 20-foot improvement over his previous best.
