Occidental College has received a two-year, $196,000 National Science Foundation grant to encourage students, especially women and minorities, to study mathematics, computer and science careers.

During a four-week program, students will gain hands-on experience using computers and calculators, and meet scientists, mathematicians and engineers in their workplaces.

Admission is open to students who have successfully completed Algebra I and live in areas served by Eagle Rock, Franklin, Marshall or Belmont high schools in Los Angeles; Hoover or Glendale high schools in Glendale, or John Muir High School in Pasadena.
