Sims, 40, has coached the Komets the last four years, taking them to the IHL finals twice. Ft. Wayne won 12 consecutive games in the playoffs, winning the IHL’s Turner Cup by sweeping a San Diego Gulls team that won a league-record 62 games during the regular season.
