Free Job Training Classes to Begin

Trinity Baptist Church will begin free classes Monday at its Good Works Job Training Center.
The center, at 2040 W. Jefferson Blvd., provides underemployed and unemployed participants with 15 weeks of training in computers, administrative and clerical work, janitorial and maintenance skills, child-care assistance and food preparation.
Last month, 18 graduates received certificates after completing the first 15-week course, which started in February, said director Joycelyn Crumpton. Eleven of the 18 have been placed in jobs.
Launched in response to the economic problems underlying last year’s riots, the center seeks to provide students with the opportunity to develop and upgrade marketable skills. It is funded by a grant from the private interdenominational foundation World Vision, Trinity Baptist Church and the Inglewood-based Secretarial Solutions Training Center.
