Quiksilver Posts $2-Million Profit for 2nd Quarter

Quiksilver Inc., the Costa Mesa casual clothing company, posted a profit of $2 million, or 32 cents a share, for its second fiscal quarter, up 33% from earnings of $1.5 million, or 23 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the three months ended April 30 dipped to $28.5 million from $28.9 million. For the first half of its fiscal year, the company reported a profit of $2.6 million, or 41 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $290,000, or 4 cents a share, for the first six months of the previous year. Sales rose slightly to $47.5 million from $47 million.
