FTC to Consider Microsoft Case: The Federal Trade Commission has scheduled a closed meeting for July 21 to consider allegations that Microsoft Corp. engaged in anti-competitive trade practices. The commission considered staff recommendations on the matter in February but did not reach a final decision. Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft has been cooperating with the inquiry, launched in 1990. The probe reportedly is focusing on whether the software maker’s applications business benefited unfairly from the company’s dominance of operating systems.
