Chain Still for Sale: The 99-store Builders Emporium chain, based in Irvine, is still for sale.
A spokesman said parent company Collins & Aikman Corp. in New York put the nationwide chain on the block more than a year ago.
So far there have been several offers for Builders Emporium, which sells hardware and garden products. But none of them have been attractive enough to induce a sale, the spokesman said this week.
