2nd-Quarter Profit Jumps 75% for Superior Industries

Superior Industries International Inc. said its second-quarter profit surged 75% to $13.3 million, from $7.6 million in the same period last year.
The Van Nuys-based manufacturer of cast aluminum automobile wheels posted sales of $106.9 million for the quarter that ended June 30, up 24% from $86 million a year earlier. Superior Industries said all five of its wheel-making plants were operating at peak capacity.
For the first half of this year, Superior Industries had net income of $23.3 million, up 77% from $13.2 million a year earlier. Revenue rose 29%, to $205 million from $159.3 million.
