WILMINGTON : Girl Made Up Kidnaping to Avoid Juvenile Hall
- Share via
A 17-year-old Wilmington teen-ager who claimed to have been kidnaped three times by her ex-boyfriend apparently made the story up as a ruse to avoid being sent to Juvenile Hall, police said Monday.
Gina Hernandez, who disappeared from her parents’ home last Tuesday, had accused her former boyfriend, Sergio Ixta, 23, of Compton of kidnaping and assaulting her twice.
But when Redondo Beach police found Ixta and Hernandez on Saturday, she recanted her story.
“We thought of bringing charges of filing a false police report,” said Los Angeles Police Lt. Alan B. Kerstein. “But really the family was more involved in that than her. And they’re just furious with her.”
Kerstein said Hernandez faces prosecution.
