A 10-year-old girl was fighting for her life Tuesday night after she was shot in the head by two boys on bicycles as she was walking with her mother in Lynwood earlier in the afternoon, sheriff’s deputies reported.
“We haven’t been able to determine if the shooters were firing at them or were just firing their pistols in the air and one of the bullets hit the little girl,” Deputy Gabe Ramirez said. No arrests have been made, and police have no suspects.
The girl’s identity was not released, but she was undergoing surgery Tuesday night at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where she was listed in extremely critical condition.
Ramirez said the youths fired four to eight shots as they drove by the girl and her mother at Orchard and Oak avenues about 5:30 p.m.
