First Woman Elected to World Scouting Group

BANGKOK, Thailand — For the first time in its 86-year-history, the world scouting movement elected a woman to its top decision-making body Wednesday.
Jocelyne Gendrin of France was among seven people elected to the 14-member World Scout Committee during the Bangkok meeting of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Others elected were from Hong Kong, the United States, Britain, the Philippines, Senegal and Mexico.
