Ventura County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the rape of a 13-year-old girl who was attacked as she walked through an open field toward her home.
The assault occurred about 7 p.m. Wednesday in a field at the end of Hollytree Drive in Oak Park. The girl had just left a friend’s house, Sheriff’s Detective Bob LeMay said.
The assailant, whom the victim did not know, sneaked up on her, threw an unknown liquid at her, then forced her to a secluded area, where he raped her, LeMay said.
The liquid is being analyzed by a lab. The girl was treated at a hospital.
The investigation is continuing, LeMay said.
