Southern California Artists Chosen for Fellowships

Nine Southern California artists are among 30 recipients of 1993 Regional Visual Arts Fellowships from the Western States Arts Federation/National Endowment for the Arts. Each artist will receive a cash award of $5,000 and have their work featured in a nationally distributed four-color catalogue. In addition, WESTAF will provide up to $1,000 per artist to assist nonprofit institutions in showing their work.
Local sculpture recipients are Lauren Lesko and Ross Rudel of Los Angeles and San Diego’s Jean Lowe; local photography recipients are Alhambra’s Gavin Lee, Long Beach’s Cristina Salvador and Don Gregorio Anton of Arcata; and, in the crafts category, local recipients are Cindy Kolodziejski of Venice and Chula Vista’s Eric D. Nation.

Name omitted-- Albert J. Winn of West Hollywood was a winner in the photography category of Southern California-based winners of the 1993 WESTAF/National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowships for Visual Arts. Winn’s name was left off a list in Monday’s Calendar.
Ten recipients were recognized in each category, representing 22 cities and eight states.
