La Crescenta : Library Scales Back Hours
The La Crescenta branch of the Los Angeles County Public Library will not be closed as expected, but because of budget cuts the hours will be sharply reduced.
The library will be open two days a week, but the days have not been determined, said branch assistant librarian Donna Serra. An attempt is being made to schedule La Crescenta’s open days to complement the La Canada Flintridge library’s hours, which were also reduced because of the cuts, she said.
County supervisors allocated $3.5 million from the county general fund to the 87-branch county library system to help make up for a 50% cut in the library’s budget brought on by the state’s shift of property taxes to the public schools.
