Union Stand on Guns
* As President of a union local in Orange County, I appreciate the support The Times has given organized labor. However, many of us union members are concerned with the renewed push for gun control.
While we tend to vote as a group for candidates that support us, many of us do so with reservation because of the tendency of those candidates to subvert the Second Amendment. We know that gun control has not and will not work. We know that we have to continue to fight for our standard of living and social justice. But we know we can only do this in a free nation with the Second Amendment firmly in place. I believe it may be time to form a group in the union movement to preserve our rights and let our candidates know how we feel. Any takers?
