TENNIS ROUNDUP : Ivanisevic Keeps His Head to Reach Final

Top-seeded Goran Ivanisevic defeated Guillermo Perez-Roldan, 6-4, 6-4, and Andrei Cherkasov overpowered Andrea Gaudenzi, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, on Saturday to advance to the final in the Romanian Open clay-court tournament at Bucharest.
The Croatian and the eighth-seeded Russian will meet in the final match today.
“It was a tough match,” Ivanisevic said. “I almost lost my mind at some point, but soon recovered and beat him.
“I’m going to play as tough as I can. Cherkasov is a good player and, you know, Russians are always tough to beat.”

Top-seeded Sergi Bruguera of Spain won twice to reach the final of a tournament at Bordeaux, France.
Bruguera defeated eighth-seeded Thomas Enqvist of Sweden, 6-1, 6-2, in a rain-delayed quarterfinal in the morning before returning in the afternoon to defeat third-seeded Arnaud Boetsch of France, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
In the other semifinal, Diego Nargiso of Italy upset second-seeded Marc Rosset of Switzerland, 6-3, 6-4.
