Volleyball / Outside hitter
May, a dominant player last year as a sophomore, isn’t letting up this season. A weight-training program has made her stronger and more able to sustain her hard play throughout a match. “She’s a year older and a year better and she was really good last year,” Coach Dan Glenn said. Last week, May had 18 kills in the Sailors’ two-game sweep of Laguna Beach in the Division I title match of the Orange County Championships. Earlier in the week, she had 21 in a three-game sweep over the Artists and 26 kills in a three-game victory over Huntington Beach.
Other Notables:
* Julie Adams, Cypress, who had 65 kills in 13 games and helped the Centurions to the Division III title of the Orange County Championships.
* Emily Barker and Katie Canright, Newport Harbor, who won eight of nine doubles sets in wins over Laguna Beach, Irvine and Los Alamitos.
* Jessica Corbin, Irvine, who finished third in the Division I race at the Woodbridge Invitational, leading the Vaqueros to the team title.
* Elizabeth Stevens, Dana Hills, who swept six singles sets to lead the Dolphins to tennis victories over Laguna Beach and Marina.
