ROUNDUP : Wendt Sparks Huntington Beach’s Rally in Volleyball

Melissa Wendt had 32 kills and helped Huntington Beach rally from a two-game deficit to beat Edison on Tuesday in a Sunset League girls’ volleyball match.
Edison won the first two games, 15-5, 15-6, before Wendt started a roll. She had 23 of her kills as the Oilers won the final three games, 15-12, 15-8, 18-16.
In Garden Grove League volleyball:
Kennedy 3, Santiago 0--Lisa Pitt had 15 kills and Krista Dowland had 13 assists for visiting Kennedy (2-1, 1-0), which won, 15-3, 15-5, 15-7.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 3, Woodbridge 0--Jennifer Stroffe had six aces and nine kills and Kim Coleman added six kills to lead third-ranked Corona del Mar, which won, 15-7, 15-4, 15-9.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 3, San Clemente 0--Jeanne Vetter had 12 kills, Ursula Luna added five aces and Skye Lewis recorded six blocks to lead sixth-ranked Dana Hills (3-0), which won, 15-3, 15-5, 16-14.
In nonleague volleyball:
Orange 3, Western 1--Charlene Conley had 19 kills to lead host Orange (2-1), which won, 15-8, 9-15, 15-5, 15-7.
Los Alamitos 3, Lakewood St. Joseph 2--Stacey Laistch led Los Alamitos (2-1) with 14 kills and eight blocks and Katie Pearce added 38 assists and eight kills for the host Griffins, who won, 6-15, 15-9, 15-3, 12-15, 15-1.
In Sea View League girls’ tennis:
University 11, Santa Margarita 7--Shannon Wilkins, a freshman, improved to 13-2 this season with three singles victories, 6-1, 6-0, 6-4, to lead host University (3-3, 1-1).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 11, Ocean View 7--Heidi Harper and Audry Evangelista, both freshman, were paired for the first time and won all three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Marina.
In nonleague tennis:
Brea-Olinda 10, Fullerton 8--Rachel Buenviaje swept her sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, to remain undefeated in eight matches, and Elizabeth Kozma and Beth St. Clair won in doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, to lead host Brea-Olinda (5-3).
Capistrano Valley 10, Estancia 8--The doubles teams of Tia West-Des Herzer and Jenny Nugent-Megan Bridges swept their respective sets for host Capistrano Valley (1-3). West and Herzer won, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, and Nugent and Bridges won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
Century 10, Buena Park 8--Roxana Rojas won her singles sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, to lead host Century (1-3).
Laguna Hills 11, San Clemente 7--Kate Minajeva swept in singles, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1, and Becky Hart and Tina Lee won, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, in doubles for host Laguna Hills (1-4).
In Sea View League water polo:
Corona del Mar 17, Irvine 7--The top-ranked Sea Kings jumped to a 10-2 lead in the first half. Neil Hueston and James Palda each scored four goals for Corona (2-0, 1-0).
In nonleague water polo:
Brea-Olinda 9, Trabuco Hills 8--Tucker Lowe scored the game-winner with 27 seconds remaining for Brea-Olinda (2-0). Trabuco Hills is 5-2.
San Clemente 17, Esperanza 10--San Clemente, ranked third in the county, scored five goals in the first, third and fourth quarters to knock off No. 9 Esperanza. Phinney Gardner had seven goals and Jim Farley had four for the host Tritons (2-0).
Foothill 10, Capistrano Valley 8--Brian Brown and Matt Schuler each scored three goals and Scott Nicholson added two for Foothill (1-2), ranked fifth.
La Habra 8, El Dorado 6--Dan Ploog scored five goals, giving him 17 in his last three games, as La Habra (8-5) defeated host El Dorado.
