“Art on Film/Film on Art,” a five-part visual arts film video series, opens a five-Saturday run Oct. 2 in LACMA’s Brown Auditorium.
The series includes 14 experimental films and videos made between 1986 and 1990 by “The Program for Art on Film,” a joint venture of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Trust. All work has been made by prominent film and video-makers in conjunction with art experts.
The five programs are: “Balance: Film/Art,” “Film Sense/Art,” “Film Form/Art Form,” “Film Voice/Art Voice” and “Film/Art: Subject and Expert.”
The respective speakers for each program are: writer-critic Sheila Benson, architect-critic Frank Israel, author-critic Janet Sternburg, LACMA curator of photography Robert Sobieszek and Robert Rosen, chair of UCLA’s Department of Film and Television and director of the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
All programs start at 3:30 p.m. Information: (213) 857-6139.
