SANTA ANA — A former aerospace worker from Midway City was sentenced Friday to 54 years in prison after pleading guilty in Superior Court to 41 counts of child molestation, including videotaped sexual acts with a 10-year-old neighbor.
Daniel Raymond Dieatrick, 30, was known in the working-class neighborhood near the Cecil B. DeMille Elementary School for always giving children toys and treats.
Residents of the Midway Manor apartment complex where he lived have said Dieatrick gave Barbie dolls, Ninja Turtles, video games and other expensive gifts to young children who gathered in his apartment to play Nintendo.
Neither Dieatrick’s attorney, nor the deputy district attorney who prosecuted the case, could be reached for comment late Friday.
In April, Dieatrick was arrested at his apartment after authorities interviewed the 10-year-old girl, who said the suspect had molested her several times over 18 months. Prosecutors reviewed eight home videotapes Dieatrick made of the acts.
Neighbors said Dieatrick was laid off earlier this year from his job as an electronics technician at McDonnell Douglas.
