The manager and a bouncer at a North Hollywood bar were shot and wounded early Wednesday by a customer they were throwing out, but police were able to quickly capture two suspects based on descriptions by witnesses, police said.
Henry Harper, 37, of Palmdale and Jose Reyes, 21, of North Hollywood were arrested about a mile from the Hollywood A Go Go bar, 10542 Victory Blvd., about 20 minutes after the 12:10 a.m. shooting, according to Detective Oscar Carballo of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.
The two men were booked on suspicion of attempted murder. Carballo said police believe they know which man fired the shots, but would not disclose his identity.
Carballo said Harper and Reyes were playing pool when they got into an argument with other customers. Carballo said the two men were being escorted out of the bar by the manager, Jesse Koehne, 26, and a bouncer, Eddie Gonzalo, 32, when one of the men pulled out a handgun and began shooting.
Harper and Reyes got into a car and drove off.
Witnesses provided police with a description of the car, and officers spotted it a short time later near Burbank and Cahuenga boulevards. Police found a handgun in the car.
Koehne was shot in the back and abdomen and was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday. Gonzalo suffered gunshot wounds to his left elbow and right hand. He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank where he was also listed in stable condition.
