Village Christian 36, Trona 14--For the second straight week, Crusader Jacob Funk set a school record for rushing yardage.
Funk, who gained 218 yards in last week’s win over LaSalle, carried 34 times for 234 yards and a touchdown to lead Village Christian (4-1) at Trona. Funk has gained 659 yards in 127 carries this season. Mike Speilman completed five of seven passes for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Receiver Tim White was on the receiving end for one of them (for 17 yards) in the first quarter, then added a 12-yard touchdown run on a reverse in the fourth quarter.
Kilpatrick 19, Whittier Christian 0--Quarterback Julio Valladares connected with senior receiver Jarvis Williams on a 77-yard scoring pass to fuel Kilpatrick at Whittier College.
Running back Micah Blankenship rushed for two third-quarter touchdowns spanning 21 and 73 yards. He gained 129 yards in seven carries.
