Rancho Santiago College is being honored by a national organization for programs the community college offers to its staff.
The National Council for Staff Program and Organizational Development is awarding the college an Institutional Merit Award at its annual conference Saturday in Key Biscayne, Fla.
The National Council praised the community college for offering more than 240 staff development workshops, with a total attendance of more than 3,000, during the 1992-93 academic year.
Rancho Santiago College Chancellor Vivian Blevins said the award recognizes the spirit of the community college’s employees.
“We have a core of outstanding employees who are committed to their ongoing professional development,” Blevins said. “They know that their success hinges upon their knowledge of multiculturalism, of student learning styles, and of their roles in shared governance in today’s world of technology applications.”
