COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : USC : Morton’s Catches Impress Robinson
- Share via
USC Coach John Robinson, on Johnnie Morton: “During the game, he makes an exceptional catch and you say to yourself: ‘Hey, that’s a nice catch.’ Then when you see on film what he really did, you say: ‘Oh, my God!’ ”
*
Robinson, on freshman strong safety Sammy Knight: “There are (defensive) guys that when someone has the ball, they take a circuitous route to him, thinking. ‘Maybe I can get him over there, if I get help.’
“Sammy goes straight for the guy with the ball. He wants to be the first in the pile. Ronnie Lott was that way, so was Dennis Thurman. You need to play defense with slightly maladjusted human beings.”
