LOS ANGELES : 22 Organizations Share $191,887 in Olympic Grants

The foundation that distributes the Southern California youth share of the 1984 Olympic profits has given away another $191,887 to 22 organizations offering sports programs, bringing total grants so far this year to $1.57 million.
The largest of the grants made by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles was $50,000 to the Foundation for the Junior Blind to build a swimming pool in the Windsor Hills area of South-Central Los Angeles.
San Pedro Softball Inc. received $22,904; the Rolling Co. Gymnastics Club of San Diego County, $19,733; the Keeping Youth Doing Something program in the San Fernando Valley, $15,000; the Southern California Speed Skating Assn. of Los Angeles, $14,750, and the El Rio Spartan Youth Sports Club in Ventura County, $10,000.
Thirteen more organizations got mini-grants of $4,000 each and three others received $2,500 each, largely to buy equipment and provide scholarships.
