Last year, Rosenthal was the No. 3 singles player on a team that lost only one match--the Southern Section Division III final to North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake. This season, Rosenthal moved up to No. 1 and came through admirably. Thursday, she won three sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, as the Griffins beat El Dorado, 10-8, to win their sixth consecutive Empire League title. Rosenthal finished the league season with a 27-3 record. Los Alamitos’ No. 1 doubles team of senior Veronica Selby and junior Michelle Schneider was 30-0.
Other Notables:
* Natalie Exon, Woodbridge, lost only two games while winning three singles sets in tennis, leading an upset of top-ranked Newport Harbor.
* Misty May, Newport Harbor, had 31 kills in the Sailors’ four-game volleyball victory against Corona del Mar.
* Kristin Moro, Fountain Valley, had 22 and 16 kills in volleyball victories against Huntington Beach and Edison.
* Kim Nelson, Canyon, won her fourth consecutive Century League cross-country title, finishing in 17:32 to lead her team to the title.
