VAN NUYS : Anti-Carjacking Workshop Tonight

A free workshop on ways to prevent carjacking will be held by the Los Angeles Police Department today at 7:30 p.m. in Van Nuys.

Officer Jean Green, who will give the workshop at the police station, 6240 Sylmar Ave., said the seminar will help people see what carjackers look for in a victim.

“What makes a crime occur is basically three different things,” Green said. “The suspect’s desire to commit it, the suspect’s opportunity to commit it and the possibility he will escape.

“Cutting out one of those three things will help prevent you from being a victim.”
