A woman shot and killed a man as he burglarized her boyfriend’s car late last week, police said.
Officials said Angela Kibodeaux, 28, heard a car alarm go off while she was in her apartment on Canfield Avenue near Venice Boulevard about 6:30 a.m. Friday, and went outside to investigate, taking a handgun. There, she saw a man identified by police as Lionel Moratoya, 29, rummaging through her boyfriend’s car.
Moratoya had already broken a window in the car and was trying to remove the stereo when Kibodeaux yelled at him to stop, police said. When he didn’t, she shot him once in the neck, according to Homicide Detective David Straky of the Police Department’s Pacific Division.
Moratoya lived nearby on Motor Avenue. “He had a three-page rap sheet,” Straky said, adding that he believed Moratoya supported himself financially through burglary.
Police said the district attorney’s office was reviewing the case and would decide whether to file charges against Kibodeaux.
