Editor’s note: While there are indeed seven novels in Proust’s “Remembrance of Things Past,” the number of physical volumes in the set varies according to edition, from as few as two to as many as eight. The third novel of the series, “Guermantes,” is in at least one edition broken into two volumes. No doubt this is the edition we were thinking of. (OK, we goofed.)
