American to Resume Negotiations With Union: The carrier said it will resume talks with its flight attendants, who have set a strike deadline of Thursday. American Airlines Inc. and the Assn. of Professional Flight Attendants have not met since their “cooling-off period” ended Oct. 30. “The company is ready and willing to talk with you and your committee--and has continuously been willing to do so,” said American Airlines’ chief negotiator, Jane Allen, in a letter hand-delivered to APFA President Denise Hedges. It was unclear when the meeting would occur. American offered to meet Tuesday with the union representatives. The union, in its response, asked that the time and place be set by the National Mediation Board.
