Two performances make up the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra’s commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the death of Claudio Monteverdi, Nov. 27 and 28.
Under music director Gregory Maldonado, the orchestra’s performances are scheduled at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica, at 8 p.m. on Nov. 27, and at Holliston United Methodist Church, 1305 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, at 4 p.m. on Nov. 28.
The program, titled “Monteverdi Remembrance,” offers the dramatic cantata, “Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda,” the composer’s Book VII Madrigals and selections from the opera “L’Incoronazione di Poppea.”
Four singers will participate in these performances: sopranos Virginia Sublett and Mary Rawcliffe, tenor Temmo Korisheli and baritone Edward Levy.
