SANTA CLARITA — A Special Weapons Team of Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies surrounded the Town Center mall on Tuesday night because three suspected armed robbers were believed to be hiding there after holding up a jewelry store, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Two other suspects were captured by deputies shortly after the holdup at Victoria Jewelers, which took place about 8:35 p.m. at the mall at 24201 W. Valencia Blvd., Deputy Rich Erickson said.
One shot was fired, but whether by a deputy or by a suspect was unclear, Erickson said. There were no reports of injuries, Erickson said.
