GABE GARDNER
Goalkeeper
San Clemente, Jr.
A first-team All-Division I selection, Gardner set a school record with 268 saves. He had eight saves in a 7-5 quarterfinal victory over North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake. Gardner, who is 6-8, is the starting keeper on the U.S. Junior national team.
PHINNEY GARDNER
Two meters
San Clemente, Sr.
A first-team All-Division I selection, Gardner scored 127 goals. He scored three goals in the Tritons’ 8-5 loss to second-seeded Corona del Mar in a Division I semifinal. At 6 feet 7, he was one of the biggest players in the Southern Section.
CROSBY GRANT
Two meters
Corona del Mar, Sr.
Sea View League player of the year. He was the Sea Kings’ third-leading scorer with about 50 goals, but at 6 feet 3 and 210 pounds, he was their strongest defensive player. Helped team win the three regular-season tournaments they entered.
SAM GRAYELI
Driver
Costa Mesa, Sr.
Pacific Coast and Division III player of the year who had 146 goals, 107 steals and 46 assists. Led the Mustangs to the Division III title game where he scored eight goals in a 12-11 sudden-death overtime loss to South Pasadena.
DAVID HAY
Two meters
Foothill, Sr.
Four-year starter who was the Century League player of the year. He had 81 goals and 45 assists for the Knights, who lost to fourth-seeded Long Beach Wilson in the Division I quarterfinals. He scored four goals in the 11-9 loss to Wilson.
BILL PINCIROLI
Two meters
El Toro, Sr.
A transfer from Brazil, Pinciroli led the Chargers in scoring with 89 goals and had 56 assists. Scored three goals in a 10-9 victory over Corona del Mar in the Division I championship game. He was named the Division I player of the year.
BRANDON STOUT
Two meters
El Toro, Sr.
South Coast and Times Orange County player of the year who scored 231 goals in his career. Had 88 goals, 72 assists and 72 steals as El Toro won its second consecutive Division I title. Feared by defenses because of quick left-handed shot.
THE SECOND TEAM
Ian Ching (Esperanza): Sr.
Utility / Scored 86 goals and had 65 assists for Aztecs, who advanced to the Division II semifinals.
Drew Douglas (Los Amigos): Sr.
Two-meters / Co-Division IV player of the year, who had eight goals in an 18-12 loss to San Bernardino in the title game.
Carlo Franzia (Sunny Hills): Sr.
Utility / Scored 81 goals, helping a balanced Lancer team advance to the Division II title game.
James Palda (Corona del Mar): Jr.
Two-meters / Team’s leading scorer--by one goal over Neil Hueston. Helped Sea Kings advance to Division I title game.
Brad Pence (Newport Harbor): Sr.
Driver / Scored 84 goals, leading Sailors to quarterfinals of Division I playoffs, where they lost to El Toro.
Greg Stoll (El Toro): So.
Goalkeeper / Averaged seven saves. He had two assists in victory over Corona del Mar in Division I title game.
Jake Yokota (Capistrano Valley): Sr.
Driver / Scored 68 goals for the Cougars, who lost to Corona del Mar in the Division I quarterfinals.
