*** Various artists, “Addams Family Values,” Atlas/Island. Mainly remakes of ‘60s and ‘70s R&B; hits featuring the mid-tempo, funky grooves that reigned in that era. “Express Yourself,” by Roger and Fu Schnickens and “Do It Anyway You Wanna” by Guru are the knockout tracks, just a cut above H-Town’s “It’s Your Thing,” Charles & Eddie’s “Supernatural Thing” and Shabba Ranks’ “A Family Affair.” A few soft spots, but mostly winners.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
