Regarding “Away From Home Alone” (Nov. 21): James T. Yenckel is on the mark when he suggests that traveling alone can be “quite companionable.” In fact, people who act on his advice and search out restaurants that provide fine dining and entertainment will soon discover that they need not search far.
Restaurateurs--from our David Slay, chef-owner of La Veranda (Beverly Hills), to the East Coast’s Danny Meyer, owner of the Union Square Cafe (New York), and including in-betweener Paul Dagenback, chef of the Palace Restaurant (Cincinnati)--are joining the growing number of community-table enthusiasts--those who support dining options that generate built-in entertainment.
