California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo maker of components for satellite and wireless cable systems, reported lower earnings in its fiscal third quarter and nine months ended Nov. 27, despite increased sales. The company blamed the earnings declines in part on higher research and development costs.
California Amplifier’s fiscal third-quarter profit was $558,000, down 10% from a $618,000 profit a year earlier. Its sales rose 29%, to $11.4 million from $8.77 million.
For the nine months, the company earned $1.64 million, a decrease of 26% from net income of $2.21 million a year before. Its revenue totaled $30.1 million, up 18% from $25.4 million.
