Valley’s Fitzgerald Signs to Play Football for Pitt

Valley College quarterback Sean Fitzgerald, the Western State Conference South Division offensive player of the year, signed a letter of intent with Pittsburgh on Wednesday and will begin classes at the Big East Conference school Jan. 5.
Fitzgerald, a 1991 graduate of Agoura High, chose Pitt over Mississippi and Nevada Las Vegas.
“I signed with (Pitt) mostly because of their coaching staff,” Fitzgerald said. “They have coaches who I feel comfortable with and who I feel can help me the most.”
Fitzgerald threw for 3,121 yards and 27 touchdowns this season while leading Valley to a 9-2 record.
Fitzgerald, who turns 21 on Jan. 7, signed with Idaho State as a high school senior, but he transferred to Valley earlier this year after playing free safety for the Bengals during the 1992 season.
