The Los Angeles City Council has approved a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for a series of recent homicides in the Oakwood area of Venice.
Since September, 11 people have been killed in gang-related shootings in Oakwood and Mar Vista Gardens. Victims include Anthony Bibbs and John Kelly on Oct. 10, Cleo Young on Nov. 3, Shawn Patterson on Nov. 16, Sienna Antwine and Fernando Rodriguez on Nov. 18, Braulio Rodriguez on Nov. 21 and Chavon Clark on Dec. 12. Arrests have been made in two of the slayings.
“These senseless killings have caused residents of Oakwood to live in fear in their own homes. Most of the victims were young men not involved in gangs,” said Los Angeles City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, who proposed the measure.
Residents are asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (310) 202-4506 or (310) 202-4501 with any information.
