Rap Music

Enough is enough. I’m tired of all the talk about rap lyrics and violence. There was violence in the black community long before rapping and hip-hop. Black-on-black crime has always been high, gangs have existed for decades, and it’s sad but many lyrics are simply expressing what is going on in our “ghettos” by day and night.
The rap music industry has created jobs, black-owned music companies and subsidiaries showing our children that they can obtain their goals. That is more than I can say for our community leaders. Black community leaders are crying out against rap music because it’s showing the rest of America how our leaders and the lack of positive role models have failed us. Morals, values, self-respect and racial pride need to be instilled in our youth every day. Banning rap and stomping on compact discs isn’t going to stop the violence.
