Japanese Unemployment at Six-Year High

The country’s jobless rate in November rose to 2.8%, the government reported. The rate inched up from 2.7% in October, the third consecutive month of worsening unemployment, and compares to 2.3% a year earlier, the management and coordination agency said. The jobless rate was last at 2.8% in August, 1987, when the yen’s appreciation was hurting exporters and the overall economy. The figures are seasonally adjusted.
