Kanter Leaves MGM: Longtime Hollywood figure Jay Kanter has resigned as chairman of production at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Kanter’s leaving had been expected after the departure in July of Alan Ladd Jr., his longtime associate. Kanter worked at MGM or related companies since 1984. The studio, owned by French bank Credit Lyonnais, is now trying to rebuild under a new executive team led by former Paramount Pictures Chairman Frank Mancuso.
