UCLA’s Miller to Enter Draft

In November, Jamir Miller was certain. “I’m going to stay in school,” he said.
In December, he was less certain. “Things change,” he said.
Tuesday, he was certain again, saying that he would leave UCLA and enter the NFL draft.
Miller, an outside linebacker coming off his junior season with the Bruins, has been their leading sacker the last three seasons.
Before the Rose Bowl, Miller, 20, said that he had submitted a letter to an NFL Advisory Committee, which was established to give collegians an idea of their prospects before they decided to forgo their final season of eligibility.
A source close to Miller said that the committee had indicated he probably would be drafted between the third and seventh rounds in April, apparently enough to send him on his way.
UCLA officials were surprised that Miller had not told them of his decision.
“I don’t even think the head coach knows,” said Mark Dellins, school sports information director, who added that Coach Terry Donahue was out of town on a recruiting mission.
Miller had 12 1/2 sacks this season--4 1/2 in the Bruins’ 68-14 victory over Brigham Young.
