U.S. Savings Bond Sales Up 26%: Sales rose to $983 million in December from $778 million in November, the Treasury Department said. Savings Bonds held by Americans at the end of last month were valued at $171.9 billion, representing an increase of 9% from $157.3 billion a year earlier.
