The city’s Mortgage Credit Certificate allows qualified applicants to take up to 20% of the interest paid on the mortgage as a federal tax credit.
Also, the city has a Mortgage Assistance Program providing a down payment that can be as much as 10% of the purchase price of the home.
To be eligible, people must be buying a single-family home for use as their principal residence. Candidates also must be buying their first home and meet income requirements.
