Help-Wanted Ads Rise Across U.S.: The number of ads grew in December in all regions of the country but one, an indication that employment is rising, the Conference Board reported. The help-wanted advertising index rose three points to 110 in December, with its greatest strength in the Mountain, Pacific, Middle Atlantic and New England regions, the board said. The year-ago figure was 95. The only region that did not experience a rise was the East South-Central area, which fell 2.1%. The board surveys help-wanted volume in 51 major newspapers each month.
