Firms Eligible for Environment Award

The Ventura County Economic Development Assn. is asking business leaders and managers to submit entries for its Excellence in Environment Leadership Award, an annual honor designed to recognize environmentally sensitive businesses.
VECEDA, a business lobby and advocacy group, encourages entries from any business or organization that works with products or programs to enhance the environment.
The 3M Co. in Camarillo won the award last year after the company significantly reduced its toxic air emissions.
“Winning the award resulted in the kind of positive news coverage that no amount of marketing funds could have ever purchased,” Jerome Malmquist of 3M Co. said in a written statement.
Entries, which must be submitted by March 1, can focus on compliance with regulations on air or water quality, reducing hazardous or other waste, recycling, and preserving or restoring the environment.
