The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has received a $275,000 grant from the Korea Foundation for the museum’s “Korean Community Education Project,” a three-year outreach program.
The project is designed to increase appreciation of Korean art and culture, and to promote cultural understanding and interaction among the city’s various populations.
Workshops will be held in areas of Los Angeles with a large percentage of Korean Americans, as well as in African American and Latino neighborhoods affected by Los Angeles’ 1992 civil unrest.
The program’s start is tied to the museum’s upcoming exhibition, “Korean Arts of the 18th Century: Splendor and Simplicity,” which runs from June 16 through Aug. 28.
